This Privacy Policy explains how TaskerAsker collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information when you use our Australian home-services marketplace. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Account information — name, email address, phone number, suburb and postcode, plus your password (stored hashed).
Job posts and quotes — the descriptions, photos, scope, preferred timing and budget you share when posting a task or replying with a quote.
Messaging content — messages you send through the platform between customers and tradies.
Verification data for tradies — Australian Business Number, business name, state-issued licence numbers (where applicable), identity check results, and optional public liability insurance certificates.
Payment information — billing details processed by our PCI-compliant payment partners. We do not store full card numbers ourselves.
Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited and approximate location, used to keep the service secure and to improve how the marketplace works.
How we use your information
We use personal information to operate the marketplace — matching jobs to verified tradies in the right service area, delivering quotes and messages, processing payments, verifying ABNs and licences, preventing fraud, moderating content, responding to complaints, and improving the platform. Where you have consented, we also send marketing emails about new features, cost guides and seasonal trade tips; you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share information with
We share information only when it is necessary to operate the platform or where required by law. This includes the tradies you choose to send a job to, the customers a tradie quotes to, our payment processors, our identity and ABN verification partners, our cloud hosting providers (located in Australia and the United States), and law-enforcement or regulators where we are compelled to disclose. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure how the site is used, and improve performance. You can control cookies in your browser settings; turning off non-essential cookies will not stop you posting jobs or hiring tradies.
Storage, security and retention
Personal information is stored on servers operated by reputable cloud providers, with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls and audit logging. We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to satisfy legal, tax and dispute-resolution obligations. You can request deletion of your account at any time, subject to those legal obligations.
Your rights under Australian privacy law
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date, withdraw consent for marketing, opt out of SMS messaging, and request deletion of your account. We respond to requests within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Children
TaskerAsker is not intended for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we will delete any account we identify as belonging to someone under 18.
