These Terms of Service form the agreement between you and TaskerAsker when you use our Australian home-services marketplace — whether you are a homeowner posting a job, a tradie or service business sending quotes, or a visitor browsing the directory. By creating an account or using TaskerAsker you accept these terms together with our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
What TaskerAsker is
TaskerAsker is a two-sided marketplace that connects Australian customers with verified, ABN-checked local tradies. We do not perform the trade work ourselves. Quotes, job scope, materials, timing and on-site conduct are agreed directly between the customer and the tradie they hire. We provide the platform for posting tasks, comparing quotes, messaging providers, paying through milestone-protected escrow and leaving honest reviews after a completed hire.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and an Australian resident or registered Australian business to use TaskerAsker. Tradies and businesses must register using a current, active Australian Business Number; we verify the ABN against the public Australian Business Register before accounts can quote on jobs. Where your trade is regulated by state law, you must add and keep current the licence details issued by your state authority.
Posting jobs and sending quotes
Customers can post free, accurate descriptions of the work they need done. Quotes from tradies should be itemised, fairly priced and reflect the work the tradie genuinely intends to do. Bait pricing — quoting low to win the job and inflating the invoice on completion — breaches these terms and is grounds for removal. Both parties are expected to confirm scope, timing, payment terms and any variations in writing inside the TaskerAsker messaging thread.
Fees, payments and refunds
Posting a job, receiving quotes and messaging providers is always free for customers. Tradies pay either a per-lead fee or, on certain plans, a small platform fee on completed jobs paid through TaskerAsker escrow. Milestone payments are held until each stage is signed off; if a milestone is not completed, a full refund of the unreleased amount is available. Card chargeback rights through your bank are unaffected by using TaskerAsker.
Reviews and content
Reviews must come from genuine, completed jobs. You retain ownership of the content you post and grant TaskerAsker a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute that content on the platform. We may remove content that breaches these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy or Australian law.
Disputes, complaints and resolution
If something goes wrong on a hire, our complaints and resolution process gets you to a real human within one business day. We mediate, hold any unreleased milestone payments while the complaint is investigated, and escalate to the appropriate state Fair Trading body — NSW Fair Trading, Consumer Affairs Victoria, the QBCC in Queensland, Consumer Protection WA, CBS in South Australia, CBOS in Tasmania, Access Canberra or NT Consumer Affairs — where required.
Liability
TaskerAsker provides the marketplace but is not the supplier of the trade work itself. To the extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, our liability for any claim arising from a hire is limited to the platform fees paid for that hire. Nothing in these terms excludes consumer guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
Suspension, termination and changes
We may suspend or close accounts for breaches of these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, code-of-conduct violations, repeated complaints, fraud or where required by law. We may also update these terms from time to time and will give reasonable notice of material changes through the platform or by email.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia. You and TaskerAsker submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales for any dispute arising from these terms.
