Licensed plumber repairing kitchen pipe in Australian home — How to write a plumbing job description

How to write a plumbing job description

A good plumbing job post gets faster, cheaper, more accurate quotes. Here is exactly what to include — with three real examples.

What this example covers

Section-by-section guidance

What every plumbing job post should include

Cover this section in two or three plain-English sentences, written the way you would describe the job to a mate. Add specifics where you have them — sizes in metres, ages of fixtures in years, brand names if you can read them off the unit. The more concrete the detail, the more accurate and the more comparable the quotes you receive in response. If you are not sure of an answer, write "unknown" rather than guessing — a good tradie would rather know what is unknown than be misled.

Photos that help

Wherever possible, attach a wide shot showing the location in the room, a mid shot of the fixture or area, and a tight close-up of any model number, leak, damage or finish. For exterior work, add a shot showing access — driveway, gate, ladder height — so the tradie can plan equipment.

What to leave out

Phone numbers, email addresses, full street addresses and references to what another tradie quoted. Once you accept a quote, the platform shares contact details automatically and the messaging history stays in writing in case anything needs revisiting.
